Shartni aniqroq aytish uchun: «agar … boʻlmasa», «faqat … sharti bilan», «… boʻlib qolsa deb». B2
If — eng oddiy shart soʻzi, lekin ingliz tilida aniqroq maʼno beradigan boshqa bogʻlovchilar ham bor. Unless — «agar … boʻlmasa»: We'll be late unless we hurry. As long as, provided (that) va providing — «faqat … sharti bilan»: shart bajarilsagina natija boʻladi: You can borrow my bike as long as you bring it back.
In case esa shart emas, ehtiyot chorasi: biror narsa yuz berishi mumkin, shuning uchun oldindan bir ish qilamiz. Take an umbrella in case it rains — yomgʻir yogʻadimi-yoʻqmi, soyabonni baribir olasiz.
Bu soʻzlardan keyin, xuddi if soʻzidan keyingidek, kelajak haqida gapirsak ham Present Simple ishlatiladi, will emas: unless it rains, in case you need it, provided you finish.

As long as / provided (that) = faqat shu shart bilan
- You can use my laptop as long as you're careful with it. — Ehtiyot qilsang boʻlgani, noutbukimni ishlataver.

In case = ehtiyot uchun, «… boʻlib qolsa deb»
- Take some money in case you get hungry. — Qorning ochib qolsa deb, ozroq pul olib ol.
- I wrote down her number in case I lost my phone. — Telefonimni yoʻqotib qoʻysam deb, uning raqamini yozib qoʻydim.
Oʻzbek tili bilan farqi
Oʻzbek tilida shart feʼlga qoʻshimcha bilan beriladi: kelsang, kelmasang. Unless esa alohida soʻz va undan keyin feʼl tasdiq shaklda turadi: unless you come = «kelmasang». Shuning uchun koʻpchilik «unless you don't come» deb ikki marta inkor qiladi. In case maʼnosi oʻzbekcha «… boʻlib qolsa deb», «har ehtimolga qarshi» iborasiga mos. Uni «agar» bilan aralashtirib yuborishadi, lekin maʼno boshqa: I'll call you if I'm late — faqat kechiksam qoʻngʻiroq qilaman; in case esa ehtiyot uchun oldindan qilinadigan ish. Provided that = «… sharti bilan».
Eslatmalar
- Unless oʻzi inkor maʼnosini beradi, shuning uchun undan keyin odatda tasdiq feʼl keladi: unless you come, «unless you don't come» emas.
- Unless har doim ham if … not oʻrnini bosmaydi. «Agar … boʻlmasa, men hayron boʻlaman» kabi his-tuygʻuli gaplarda faqat if: I'll be surprised if she doesn't win.
- In case of + ot — rasmiy yozuvlarda: In case of fire, use the stairs. Provided that va on condition that rasmiyroq; IELTS Writing uchun foydali. Soʻzlashuvda koʻproq as long as ishlatiladi.

Чтобы точнее выразить условие: «если не», «при условии, что», «на случай, если».
If — самый простой союз условия, но в английском есть и другие, более точные. Unless — «если не»: We'll be late unless we hurry. As long as, provided (that) и providing — «при условии, что», «только если»: результат будет, только если условие выполнено: You can borrow my bike as long as you bring it back.
In case — это вообще не условие, а мера предосторожности: что-то может случиться, поэтому мы заранее что-то делаем. Take an umbrella in case it rains — зонт вы берёте в любом случае, будет дождь или нет.
После этих союзов, как и после if, о будущем говорят в Present Simple, а не с will: unless it rains, in case you need it, provided you finish.
Сравнение с русским и узбекским
Unless ≈ «если не», «если только не». Поскольку отрицание уже внутри слова, после unless глагол утвердительный — а по-русски мы говорим «если не придёшь», и рука сама пишет «unless you don't come». In case ≈ «на случай, если», «вдруг»; его часто путают с if: «возьми зонт, если пойдёт дождь» и «на случай, если пойдёт дождь» в английском — разные вещи. Кроме того, после «если» и «на случай, если» в русском стоит будущее время («если пойдёт»), отсюда ошибка «in case it will rain». Provided that ≈ «при условии, что».
