Tushirib qoldirish va almashtirish
Takrorlamaslik uchun: soʻzlarni tushirib qoldirish yoki ularni so, not, do so, one bilan almashtirish. C1
Tabiiy ingliz tili takrorni yoqtirmaydi. «Are you coming to the party? — Yes, I am coming to the party» oʻrniga shunchaki Yes, I am deyiladi. Buning ikki usuli bor: ellipsis (soʻzlarni butunlay tushirib qoldirish) va substitution (ularni qisqa soʻz bilan almashtirish).
Ellipsisda yordamchi yoki modal feʼl qoladi, qolgani tushadi: She can swim, but I can't. I haven't finished yet, but I will. to soʻzidan keyingi feʼl tushishi mumkin, lekin to soʻzining oʻzi qoladi: I'd love to.
Substitutionda butun gap oʻrniga so (tasdiq) yoki not (inkor) keladi — think, hope, expect, suppose, be afraid soʻzlaridan keyin: I hope so. I'm afraid not. Feʼl birikmasi oʻrniga do so (rasmiy) yoki do that / do it, sanaladigan ot oʻrniga one / ones ishlatiladi: Students who wish to apply should do so by Friday.
Bu shakllar nutqni qisqa va tabiiy qiladi, yozuvda esa matnni takrorlardan tozalaydi va gaplarni bir-biriga bogʻlaydi.

Qachon ishlatiladi
Qisqa javob va munosabat: yordamchi feʼl butun feʼl birikmasi oʻrnida

- Ali didn't enjoy the concert, but his sister did. — Aliga konsert yoqmadi, lekin singlisiga yoqdi.
so / not butun gap oʻrnida

Oʻzbek tili bilan farqi
Oʻzbek tilida ham takror kamaytiriladi, lekin boshqacha: odatda feʼlning oʻzi qayta aytiladi yoki «ha / yoʻq» bilan javob beriladi: «Kelasanmi? — Kelaman.» Ingliz tilida qisqa javobda yordamchi feʼl kerak: Yes, I will («Yes, I come» emas). «Menimcha, ha» → I think so, «Menimcha, yoʻq» → I don't think so — «I think yes» emas. «Borishni xohlardim» qisqartirilganda ham to qoladi: I'd love to. Oʻzbekchada «xohlayman» oʻzi yetarli boʻlgani uchun oʻquvchilar baʼzan to soʻzini tashlab ketadi.
Eslatmalar
- I hope not, I'm afraid not, I suppose not — oddiy shakllar. Lekin think va expect bilan odatda I don't think so, I don't expect so deyiladi; I think not juda rasmiy yoki qatʼiy eshitiladi. hope bilan esa faqat I hope not — «I don't hope so» xato.
- Yordamchi feʼl zamon va shaxsga mos boʻladi: She works hard, and so does her brother. I've finished, and Ali has too. Savolga javobda esa savoldagi yordamchi feʼl takrorlanadi: Have you…? — Yes, I have.
- Rasmiylik: do so — rasmiy yozuv uchun; do that / do it — kundalik nutq uchun: I'll do that tomorrow.
- IELTS Speaking: I'd love to, I suppose so, I'm afraid not kabi qisqa javoblar ravon va tabiiy eshitiladi. Savolni toʻliq takrorlash shart emas, lekin keyin fikringizni albatta kengaytiring.

Чтобы не повторяться: опустить слова или заменить их на so, not, do so, one.
Вместо «Are you coming to the party? — Yes, I am coming to the party» говорят просто Yes, I am.
She can swim, but I can't. I haven't finished yet, but I will. Глагол после to можно опустить, но сама частица to остаётся: I'd love to.
При замещении целое придаточное заменяется на so (утверждение) или not (отрицание) — после think, hope, expect, suppose, be afraid: I hope so. I'm afraid not. Глагольную группу заменяет do so (формально) или do that / do it, исчисляемое существительное — one / ones: Students who wish to apply should do so by Friday.
Английский требует «заместителя»: вместо «был» — Yes, I have; вместо «да / нет» после глагола мнения — so / not: I think so, I hope not, а не «I think yes». I'd like to, I can. I don't hope so.
